Tsukioka YOSHITOSHI (1839 – 1892)

Shows Akashi Shiganosuke, the notoriously strong Yokozuma sumo-fighter, holding an opponent at bay with one hand. From the fine chuban set of fifty prints Biyu Suikoden, “Handsome Heroes of the Water Margin” published by Omiya Kyujiro, 1866/7 ( this being 1867 ).

Fine impression and colour. Very good condition. Signed Ikkaisai Yoshitoshi hitsu.
